As a native German, I lived and worked in two foreign nations: The United Kingdom and Canada. The expatriate section of my blog is on my experience of being a long-term resident, opportunities and pitfalls, and I’m hoping you’ll find it useful if you’re an international looking for suitable countries to settle in.
For my nine years in Canada, I would like to add a warning as a first story: Canada? Revenue Agency! Immigrants, Beware! You may think you could go to pretty much any country, live there, work and at some point leave without too many consequences. The last bit is not necessarily true for Canada. It’s a good country to live with an unforgiving taxation system if you make the same mistakes as me.
